Enterprise Manager 10GR5 FY10 EMEA Road show

I have the chance in the beginning of the previous week to participate at the “Enterprise Manager 10GR5 FY10 EMEA Road show” in Frankfurt - Germany. The Oracle Enterprise Manager product management team hosted this EM 10g Release 5 sales training roadshows at different locations. This 2-day class included latest product updates in Enterprise Manager (EM) 10g R5 release and competitive overview.

I’d like to summarize this presentation by saying that Oracle Enterprise Manager offers a very unique approach to managing the entire application stack including the management of each individual component in the stack. Some of the unique capabilities are listed here which include Real User Experience Insight (RUEI) accelerators for Oracle Applications, Application Diagnostics for Java, Provisioning and Patching automation, Database Replay, SQL performance analyzer and template based deployments of Oracle Virtual Machine (VM). These unique capabilities help you manage your IT efficiently, lower the cost of managing your IT while delivering a high quality of service to your end users and business owners.

    • EM R5 Overview: We discover the new products and features included in latest release of Enterprise Manager. We find out how the new Oracle Enterprise Manager10g Release 5 can help drive down the costs of managing applications with a unique top-down approach. We also covered how to effectively promote these Enterprise Manager solutions, including: Key product features, Pricing and packaging and Live Demonstrations
    • CIO’s Challenges
    • Proving Value for Oracle Management Solutions : This session only worked with hard numbers / savings to build an ROI story around Enterprise Manager packs and products.

    Day 2:

    • Configuration Management Solutions with Demos
    • Enterprise Manager Competitive Session: this session gave an overview of the EM and SAM competitive landscape, highlights Oracle’s key differentiators.
    • Application Management Solutions : Understanding Apps Customers and Technical Challenges, Apps projects Key Players, Milestones and Decision Makers
    • Understanding EM for Apps: Opportunity and Business Challenges and Solution Overview

    As I manage the “Application Management Solutions” session, I would like to share with you the key messages:

  • Application Management Challenges:
    • Ensuring the availability and performance of applications
    • Containing the costs associated with operating the applications on an on-going basis
    • Aligning IT and line-of-business priorities so the resources are applied to activities that generate the most business benefits
    • Achieving smooth migration to Fusion Applications

    Technical Challenges:

    • Making sure that configurations are set properly
    • Keeping track of configuration changes
    • Determining problem root causes
    • Measuring response times
    • Finding transaction bottlenecks
    • Automating multi-step procedures

    What helps make Enterprise Manager (EM) compelling to Apps customers?

    • Interoperability/ Certifications: Tested configurations and Embedded components
    • “Ease of Use”: Easy to learn, As productive as Apps Tools (e.g. SARM with Siebel), Pre-built solutions
    • New capabilities: Things you simply can’t do with Apps Tools (e.g. Performance)
    • Familiarity/ Continuity: Similarity to Apps Tools capabilities and Future-proof (e.g. EM used in Fusion Apps)
